The Leica Noctilux-M 50 f/1.2 ASPH. is a classic lens that has been carefully adapted for modern lens design. First introduced in 1966, it astounded expo visitors and the trade press with its revolutionary optical capabilities. The lens features a maximum aperture of f/1.2, exceptional optical performance, and a unique visual signature. This was made possible by the use of two aspherical elements, which reduce spherical aberrations at maximum aperture and improve rendition quality. The original Noctilux 50 f/1.2 was produced from 1966 to 1975, with only 1,757 units ever made. It was one of the first serial production Leica lenses to feature a black finish.
