What coins do
Attach a gift to a comment and it pins above the rest of the thread on that article. Sending one also pays you points equal to the coins you spent, so a gift is never a dead loss.

How to earn, for free
Points show up in the header the moment you earn them. Each one pays once per day per thing, and everything together tops out at 500 points a day — so there is nothing to grind, and no single way to earn is throttled ahead of the others.

The streak multiplier
Earn anything on consecutive days and every payout above gets multiplied, up to 3x. Miss a day and the streak resets — that is the whole rule.
