Monetizing Real-World Work: How Small Businesses Can Partner in AI Video Data Collection
The next generation of artificial intelligence and robotics is no longer just being built on abstract algorithms or text data—it is being trained on how the real world actually functions. For businesses operating in hands-on industries, everyday workflows represent an entirely new asset class.
micro1 is currently scaling a specialized program partnering with small business owners and teams to participate in paid video data collection projects. These initiatives capture normal, day-to-day work happening in real commercial environments to help AI systems better understand physical tasks.
What the Program Involves
Participating as a video data collection partner is designed to integrate smoothly into active business operations with minimal friction:
- Eligible Operations: Ideal participants include hands-on businesses such as construction, HVAC, plumbing, auto repair, manufacturing, warehouses, landscaping, and commercial kitchens. (Highly repetitive assembly lines are generally a mismatch).
- Simple Setup: Participating employees use their own smartphones (iPhone or Android with required motion sensors and ultra-wide cameras) paired with a wearable phone mount to record real-world tasks safely.
- Flexible Commitment: Businesses with at least two team members willing to participate can log hours flexibly while maintaining standard workflows.
- Direct Compensation: Companies are compensated based on the volume and quality of approved video data collected.
Why This Matters for Business Owners
For forward-thinking entrepreneurs, independent contractors, and business operators, leveraging existing operational routines to help train frontier technology provides a unique avenue to generate supplemental revenue without altering core business models.
